After a week pause caused by the representative break, the top Slovak hockey competition will get into it at full blast. Our hockey players will travel near the hill of Poľana to lead a fight against the newcomers to the competition – HC 07 Detva. The match will take place on Saturday, December 20 at 18:00.

Nearly 3 months have passed since the last duel between Košice and Detva and we could observe some changes in the team of the newcomer to the Tipsport League. Canadian goalkeeper Matt Larose did not manage to take his chance and was subsequently replaced by his fellow countryman as well as his namesake Matt Hacket. Nephew of the well-known NHL goalkeeper Jeff Hacket managed to perform during 4 matches where he scored 88% success.

The best performance among all the players was reached by Michal Murček, who scored 13 points for 3 goals and 10 assists in 28 matches. The second is 31-years old winger Ladislav Ščurko, due to his 7 goals and 5 assists in 29 matches. The Czech legionnaire David Videlka gained the same number of Canadian points in his 23 matches. However, the hockey team from Poľana region is still having difficulties in the Tipsport League. They only have 12 points on their account, while only 3 fights were successfully lead to victorious end. Therefore, it occupies the last rank of the scale and still loses 17 points to fight it´s way to the 9th place. It remains to be seen whether the newcomer will be doing better in the second half of the competition.

The last few days meant rest for our team, we will play only the 2nd match in the last 17 days. Fortunately, during the short break most of the sick players re-joined the team – Joakim Lundström and Václav Čížek were available in the match against Zvolen and our defense man Patrik Koch, who helped out the neighboring Prešov in the 1st league, was also active in the matches. However, the striker Jiří Bicek who has been absenting in Košice for a longer time due to his injury, quit his part in the team of Košice.
