We offer you the habitual review of the results of our youth teams. Cadets and young competitors launched another part of their season, juniors are almost at the end of their regular season. Necessity was the best youth players rewarding, and therefore, on February 7, just before the A-team match, Matej Jacko, Dominik Janičkár and Peter Eliáš took over their prices right from the hands of the president of HC Košice, Július Lang and the executive director Rastislav Rusič.

CADETS TEAM

Our cadets entered another part of their season at the very beginning of the year. After the regular season, they fought their way to the fight about the SR champion. Within 10 introductory rounds, they only managed to win 4 times, 2 times beating the peers from Spišská Nová Ves, and home victory over Dukla Trenčín and Poprad. The second home match against Dukla Trenčín brought them 1 point for the draw 1:1. However, in the remaining 6 matches, our cadets were the weaker team. They did not win over cateds from Martin, Slovan Bratislava and finally on the home ice against Poprad. They have gained 9 points, and that places them to the 4th position in the SR championship ranking. The same number of points has been gained by the 3rd Dukla Trenčín. The second position is occupied by cadets of HK ŠKP Poprad with thier 10 points.

The top cadets ranking positions belongs to forwards Lukáš Vaculik a Lukáš Kaža. The former scored 17 goals and 27 assists in 14 matches of this season, while 44 points are on credit of the forward Lukáš Kaža (14+30). However, 31 matches were necessary for him to meet these numbers. They are followed by another forward, Juraj Slafkovský, who managed to wave the net of the opponent 23 times and he helped out his team by 20 assists. As for the goalies, Rastislav Eliáš got the highest number of opportunities to save the puck, and his personal success rate is 92.02 % (8th position among the goalies of cadets league). Lukáš Savčák managed to keep his success rate 88,62 % while performing in 18 matches.

Matej Jacko was finally rewarded in January.  15-years-old defense man of HC Košice cadets performed in 7 matches in January, where he managed to score 2 times and to assist to 1 goal. His overall balance is 3 goals and 5 assists, which means 8 points on his credit and 16 plus points.

YOUNG COMPETITORS TEAM

At the beginning of the new year, the young competitor players launched their performance in the extended part of the young competitors Kaufland extra league. They credited 5 victories to their account – they overcame their peers from Zvolena, Skalica (2 times), Slovan Bratislava, Dukla Trenčín. In this period, our players lost 3 times during full regulation time (Banská Bystrica, 2 times Nitra) and were beaten by their opponent during overtime, or individual shootouts, 3 times as well (Banská Bystrica, Zvolen, Slovan Bratislava). In this part of the season, our young competitors occupy the 4th position with their 58 points. The same number of points is on the credit of HK ŠKP Poprad players.

The leader of Canadian points ranking is still a forward Samuel Nagy. In 39 matches which took place during this season, he gained 46 points for 18 goals and 28 assists - in January he scored 4 goals and he helped the team out with 4 assists. The second one is another forward - Roman Faith. He has even better match point average (1,28) as the current leader. He gained 41 points ( 12+29 ) in 32 matches.

Young competitors best player reward for the month of January was given to goalie Dominik Janičkár. So far, the 17-years-old native from Košice has acquired 90,35 % success rate in 21 matches, and he belonges to top 10 players of the Young Competitors Kaufland Extra League. In January, he performed in 7 matches and he kept his success rate on 90,18 %.

JUNIORS TEAM

Our juniors performed in 8 matches in the previous month and another 4 at the very beginning of February. In this period they enjoyed victory 7-times, when they beat peers from Skalica, Slovan Bratislava, followed by victory over Žilina, Martin, Banská Bystrica and Liptovský Mikuláš and for the last time they won the battle over leader from Nitra. In the remaining 5 matches the opponent players from Dukla Trenčín, who managed to overcome our players both on our home ice but and hosting ice were more successful,  as well as the leader - MMHK Nitra, and peers from Zvolen who overcame our players. Košice did not win against Poprad in the match that took place on the 1st February weekend. Therefore, they occupy the 4th position in the extra league table with 76 point, likewise the juniors from Banská Bystrica.

The juniors productivity leader is a forward Filip Hudák, who gained 53 points for 20 goals and 33 assists in 41 matches. The goalie #1 of HC Košice is undoubtedly Tomáš Tkáčik. He performed in 40 matches in this season with his overall success rate 91,64 % what places him to the nice 5th place among all league goalies.

In January, the junior player of the month was a forward Peter Eliáš. It is the 1st season in the junior category for the skilled forward, and in the opening four months of the season, he only gained 4 points for 2 goals and 3 assists. But, in January, the forward was in great shape! He added 8 Canadian points to his credit! He gained all of these points for assists.
