Steel Arena
Thanks to the efforts of the Košická Aréna not-for-profit organisation, which managed, after nine years, to resume works on the old L. Troják Hockey Stadium, the gates of Steel Arena opened in a ceremony on 24 February 2006. The outcome of these efforts is a modern venue, the pride of the town of Košice, serving the general public.
Steel Arena is situated in the town centre on Nerudova street. With its capacity of 8347 seats and well-developed facilities, expanded to include a restaurant, bars, a chain of buffets and forty VIP lounges and VIP zones, Steel Arena has created respectable conditions for the growth of Košice's naturally-dominant ice hockey, while at the same time allowing organisation of other sporting, cultural and social events, mainly of exhibitions, concerts, championships and tournaments, various meetings and balls. After the ice hockey WC 2011, we will again be one of the cities to host WC 2019.
Steel Arena also includes a training rink for ice hockey players built on the southern side of Košice's Steel Arena, with a rink size of 26 x 56 metres and capacity of 300 to 600 spectators. It also contains ten dressing rooms. The rink meets the criteria for youth ice hockey players' championship competitions.
All information on Steel Arena, the training rink and events hosted in 'Steelka' is available on the arena website.
