The opening period of the match between Košice and Trenčín broght mutually even dynamic hockey, where chances were followed by good defense play. So we had to wait for the first greater chance until the fourth minute, we saw a good try when Pulli forwarded the puck from the blue line. But Valent did not see his shot so the puck ended on the rear barrier. On the other side Trenčín was not successful during their outnumbering 3:2, the goalman Lundström managed to catch. Already before the break a similar situation could have happened on the other side, but Nagy was not fast enough, so he just fired a shot. Valent managed to cover the ending of the Košice captain. So after 20 minutes the score was 0:0.
The beginning of the second period of the regular play time brought two precise hits. Dukla started to lead, the merit goes to Ölvecký. He tried it from a big angle and surprised Lundström in our net. But 41 seconds the score was even, when Šoltés at the end of our attack action did not give a chance to Valent. Then it was Sojčík's chance, he received an ideal puck between the circles, but it was not enough against the Košice goalman. On our side Pacan had a chance in penalty shooting, but Valent managed to handle this situation. Both teams scored one more time before the break. First Bezúch brought back the victory to Dukla, but in the second last minute Jenčík changed the score to 2:2. So after 40 minutes the score was even.
The first minutes of the last period of the regular play time definitely belonged to the home team. After several minutes they settled in the zone of Trenčín and applied reasonable pressure. After Pacan’s pass to the blue line Valent had to catch a really fast shot, but he managed. The goalman of Trenčín stopped also the action of Petráš and his technical ending. In the second duel of these two men the Košice hockey player succeeded. He used outnumbering of two against one and send the home team to the lead. The final result 4:2 was achieved by the goal of Šoltés to the empty net. So Košice gained three important points to the chart.
Marcel Šimurda, Coach of Košice: “In the first period it was a little bit rough, but in the second period we managed to match our opponent. The most important thing for us was that we managed to thwart the lead of Trenčín twice and take the lead. We are satisfied with the result; we have to play like this from now on.”
Peter Oremus, Trenčín Coach: “I am a quiet person, but I will be angry today. We played good during two periods, we managed to lead twice over the opponent, but there was an incomprehensible break in the third part. We lost the today’ match ourselves.”
