Košice management again did not forget to announce the best young hockey-players playing in HC Košice jerseys. The best cadet price for the month of December was awarded directly on the ice-rink to Ľubomír Kupčo. The best young player of the month became Patrik Frič, the best junior was Jakub Mackaľ.

Already the start of the match suggested that we will see a really hard hockey match full of chances on both sides. Zvolen used theirs in the half of the second minute and Bokroš scored. But a few minutes later also Nieminen had to be careful. First his attention was tested by Vrábeľ, and then Šoltés joined in. The goalman of Zvolen succeeded in both cases, but he was not enjoying the situation for a long time. In the beginning of the ninth minute Pacan escape during own defense play and found Nagy who he sent the puck to the net. Before the break Nagy scored one more time in the 20th minute after assistance of the Canadian Pacan. When they left to the locker rooms the score was 2:1.

Also the middle part of the regular play time brought lot of interesting moments on both sides. It is worth to mention especially the action of the forward Obdržálek, who invited the co-players with an ideal pass for  goal, but eventually the score remained unchanged. The it was turn of the Košice goal machine, when during the 41st minute we scored for the third time. Jenčík, Kafka and Petráš got to the list of players and the goal of Petráš forced Nieminen to leave the net of Zvolen. Before the break also the most productive player of Zvolen Coffman managed to score and made it 5:2. This was valid before the third period.

The players of Košice did not give over als in the last period of the regular playtime. On the contrary in the beginning of the 42nd minute Nagy passed to Špilar. And for our fast leg player it was an easy situation and he increased to 6:2. And then our captain could have completed his hattrick, but the glove of attentive Šimko spoiled this chance. The score remained unchanged so we added three important points to our balance.

Marcel Šimurda, Coach of Košice: "From our side it was important that we managed to get back on track during own defense play. But everything was breaking in the second period, when we scored three times during one minute. Let me thank the boys for their performance, the supporters must have liked it.

Peter Mikula, Coach of Zvolen: "We started well, even though we were losing 1:2 after 20 minutes. But then we let Košice play their own hockey, which was not good. We “put our opponent on the horse” by our own mistakes and the match was over.”
