The youngest Steelers proudly represented HC Košice
During the season, fans usually pay full attention to the senior team of HC Košice. In the background, however, many other coaches and players work hard to assure the future of hockey in the eastern metropolis as well as the future of a hockey representation itself. The youngest ones, the preparation camps, are not an exception. Throughout the season they work hard under the leadership of experts, so that they can perform a high-quality hockey and improve their overall performance right from the beginning of their hockey careers. Let’s have a look together how they performed this season.
HP 4
The HP 4 players were actively improving their game and movement skills. During the season, players born in 2010 were practicing on ice as well as outside the rink. The goal of head coach Peter Marenčík was to improve skillfulness and coordination of our talented players. On ice, they practiced mainly skating, stickhandling drills and small area game. All this was organized in the form of competitions. Boys cannot complain about lack of matches because they had around 90 opportunities to test themselves against other teams.

The youngest players of HC Košice also dedicated their free time to hockey. Children born between 2013-2016 were happy to practice hockey inside the training hall of Steel Arena where they have been acquiring valuable elementary hockey skills under the supervision of their coaches. As it was pointed out several times during the recruitment process, the youngest players need to find hockey interesting and that’s why the practices were held in the form of different competitions focused primarily on movement and coordination, and on acquirement of skating basics and speed.

A leader of hockey preparational camps of HC Košice, Miroslav Kozárik, also evaluated the season positively: "Whether we are looking at it from the perspective of a training process or from the perspective of organization of a collective and group, the hockey preparation camps of HC Košice underwent a small transformation. The number of training units has been stabilized and the number of coaches increased during the process. Recruitments were carried out regularly during the season in cooperation with SIHF that initiated the event “Deti na hokej” (Children let’s play hockey!). This event brought many benefits to our club in the form of equipment for players and goaltenders. The organization tried to improve communication on the telephone line between club and parents. Sponsors and parents cooperated to ensure equipment for all preparation camp categories. Of course, work is not finished yet and the team has already started to outline goals for the future!
We would like to thank each of the above-mentioned coaches, players, sponsors, parents and all people who participated in the functioning and development of our preparation camps, you all have our greatest admiration. We believe that also thanks to HC Košice, hockey is becoming an integral part of children’s life and development, and we hope that they will continue to represent our club in the upcoming seasons!”
