The last round of the regular season is here. The Steelers will face the opponent from southern Slovakia, HC Mikron Nové Zámky. This time it will be Ladislav Nagy, the former captain of the Steelers and the 2019 Sport Person of Košice, who will handle the initial face-off on Friday, at 6:00 PM. During first break, fans will have the opportunity to take a photo with Laco in the well know spot above the fan shop. The "Fotolab" will make the photos for you FOR FREE.

After a good start, Nové Zámky lost several matches and descended into the second half of the Tipsport League table where they remain. Before the last round, it’s clear that this opponent will fight for the play-off in the pre-play-off competition against the teams that are ranked from 6 to 12. The team of Nové Zámky is currently ranked 10th with 50 points and significant 15-points loss for the qualifying 8th place. This season, our players have played three games against Nové Zámky. They managed to win two of them. At the ice rink of Nové Zámky we scored twice, winning 2:1 and 5:4, but at home we were defeated 2:3 after shootouts.

Two of the most productive players of Nové Zámky changed their jerseys right before the deadline for hosting– Tomáš Pospíšil transferred to Czech Litvínov and forward Václav Stupek transferred to the competition HKM Zvolen. Leading position is now in the hands of another forward – Juraj Jurík. 30-years old native from Skalica has played 46 matches in the regular season in which he has acquired 26 Canadian points for 8 goals and 18 assists. Czech forward Filip Bajtek has only gained 2 points less than Jurík. Former player of Třinec is currently the best shooter of Nové Zámky with 9 goals on his credit. Right behind Bajtek is his compatriot Radim Hruška. After 40 matches, 35-years old center, who has also worn a jersey of Košice, has 7 goals and 11 assists on his credit. The net of Nové Zámky is guarded by duo Patrik Nechvátal – Christián Pavlas. The first named came to the south of Slovakia from Poprad during the season, and after 13 games, his success rate is 92,18%. His 4-years younger colleague got an opportunity after 25 matches and finished with the success rate of 90,60%.
