Za sebou máme dva úvodné štvrťfinálové zápasy. Pre Oceliarov dopadli úspešne, keď sme nášho súpera spod Zobora dvakrát porazili. Na obe stretnutia sme sa pozreli spolu s hlavným trénerom Danom Cemanom, ktorý zhodnotil výkon našich chlapcov ale aj skvelú divácku kulisu, ktorú v Steel Aréne pripravili fanúšikovia.

Po dvoch víťazstvách panuje v šatni dobrá nálada. Stav 2:0 je pred zápasmi v Nitre ideálny. V prvom zápase sme si víťazstvo zariadili štyrmi gólmi v druhej tretine, druhé stretnutie malo vyrovnanejší priebeh. Vedeli sme, že Nitra  bude v druhom zápase iná. Uvedomovalii sme si, že niečo zmenia a budú hrať tvrdšie. Som rád, že sme dokázali vyhrať aj druhý zápas, bolo to tvrdo vybojované víťazstvo.

Náš súper skončil po základnej časti na desiatom mieste. Ľahko prešiel kvalifikáciou a vo štvrťfinálovej sérii  tiež predvádza dobré výkony.  Štatisticky bola Nitra v posledných dvadsiatich zápasoch tretím najlepším tímom v lige. Majú silu v každej zo štyroch formáci. Sú tam aj hráči, ktorí sa zúčastnili minuloročného finále. Samozrejme, nesmiem opomenúť ani  brankárov. Hlavne za posledné dva mesiace Kašík ukázal, že je dôležitým prvkom pre Nitru. Jednoznačne to nie je jednoduchý súper, analyzoval Dan Ceman.

Po zápasoch v Steel Aréne nás čaká dvojzápas v Nitre, kde sa v utorok a stredu postavíme proti domácim Corgoňom. Je všeobecne známe, že v Nitre dokážu fanúšikovia spraviť parádnu kulisu. „Výhoda domáceho ľadu je výhoda domáceho ľadu. Nitrania majú tiež úžasných fanúšikov, doma sa tešia veľkej podpore, a bude tam poriadne hlučno. Budú mať rovnakú podporu ako my. Predovšetkým na začiatku musíme byť psychicky silní a pokojní, pretože na nás odzačiatku budú tlačiť.

Na oba zápasy v Steela Aréne prišla vyše šesťtisícova návšteva, ktorá dodala nášmu mužstvu veľkú podporu. „Atmosféra bola fantastická. Myslím si, že fanúšikovia si nie vždy uvedomujú aká to je podpora, a akú veľkú mentálnu výhodu nám dáva hlučný štadión. Bola radosť sa na to pozerať, hlavne po roku energetickej krízy, a podobne, keď nebolo vôbec jednoduché naplniť dom. Úžasné. Bolo veľmi milé vidieť toľko fanúšikov.“ Konštatoval kanadský kouč.

Atmosféra v domácom prostredí je pre mužstvo veľmi dôležitá. Dan Ceman si uvedomuje, že diváci majú na mužstvo pozitívny vplyv. „Podpora fanúšikov je pre nás nesmierne dôležitá. Nám neostáva nič iné, len dúfať, že nás aj naďalej prídu podporovať. Myslím si, že to máme výborne rozbehnuté a cítime sa skvelo, a práve to cítia aj fanúšikovia. Majú na nás obrovský vplyv.“

V utorok 21. marca a v stredu 22. marca odohrajú Oceliari 3. a 4. štvrťfinálový zápas v Nitre. Obidva zápasy si budete môcť vychutnať aj na obrazovkách RTV: ŠPORT a Šport TV.

Two opening playoff games are behind us. Steelers have been the successful ones after they defeated their opponent from under the Zobor twice. We have reflected on both games with our main coach Dan Ceman who assessed the team’s performance and also the amazing fans’ backdrop in the Steel Arena.

The team locker room is overcome with a good mood following the two wins. Status 2:0 of the series is ideal before the Nitra games. We arranged the first game’s win by scoring four goals in the second period, however, the second game’s progression was much more balanced. “We knew that Nitra would be different during the second game. We have realized they are going to change some things and play harder. I’m glad we could win the second game as well, it was a hard-fought battle.”

Our opponent finished the regular season in tenth place. Qualification was an easy journey for them and they continue to perform well in the quarter-final series. “In the last twenty games, Nitra was statistically the third-best team in the league. They have weapons throughout all four formations. They have some players who have been in the finals last year. Of course, the goalies need to be mentioned, too. Mainly in the last few months, Kašík has shown he’s an important element for Nitra. A very tough team to play against, definitely,” analyzed Dan Ceman.

Following the Steel Arena games, the doubleheader awaits us in Nitra where on Tuesday and Wednesday we will face off against home Corgons. It is known that Nitra fans can make a great atmosphere. “Home ice advantage is home ice advantage. Nitra has amazing fans, too, they enjoy great support at home, and it will be very loud there. They will have the same support as us. From the beginning, we have to stay mentally strong and calm, because they will come out at us hard.”

Both Steel Arena games were attended by more than six thousand fans who energized our team a great deal. “The atmosphere was fantastic. I don’t think the fans always realize the boost, the mental advantage a loud stadium gives us. It was fantastic to see, after a year with the energy crisis and all that, when it was not easy to fill the building. It was great. It was nice to see so many fans,” concluded the Canadian coach.

The home atmosphere is very important for the team. Dan Ceman realizes the positive impact fans have on the players. “Fan support is huge for us. We just hope that they continue to come. I think we have a good thing going here and we feel pretty good and the fans feel that, too. They make a huge impact on us.”
