Už zajtra začína semifinálová séria proti Michalovciam a naši chlapci robia všetko preto, aby boli na piatkový štart stopercentne pripravení.

Hlavný tréner Dan Ceman sledoval Duklu naživo počas jej šiesteho štvrťfinálového duelu proti Slovanu a dostupné informácie analyzujú zo všetkých strán aj jeho asistenti. Skúmajú silné i silné stránky súpera a výsledkom by mala byť úspešná stratégia.

„Je to klišé, ale útoky vyhrávajú zápasy a obrana vyhráva tituly,“ hovorí asistent trénera Tomáš Kochan, podľa ktorého sú defenzívne ladené predpoklady série veľmi logické. Košice totiž odohrali s Michalovcami v aktuálnej sezóne šesť vzájomných duelov a až štyri z nich sa skončili výsledkom o gól. „Zo strany Michaloviec to bude určite dobrá defenzíva, my máme výbornú ofenzívu, ktorá vychádza tiež z poctivej obrany a výkonov brankárov. Obe strany sa doposiaľ prezentovali výbornými tímovými výkonmi a kabína funguje u nás aj u nich. Bude to teda o detailoch, každom strelenom góle či úspešnom zákroku brankára.“

Tradične dôležitú rolu hrajú v play-off presilové a oslabové hry. Košický tím je v oboch týchto štatistikách na čele extraligových rebríčkov, Michalovce však príliš nezaostávajú. Vo štvrťfinále proti Slovanu dokonca neinkasovali v početnej nevýhode ani jediný gól.

„Oslabenia a presilovky sú veľmi dôležité a venujeme tomu pochopiteľne veľkú pozornosť. Taktické veci sa vopred neprezrádzajú, ale robíme všetko preto, aby sme ich mali načítaných čo najlepšie. Verím, že pripravíme veci, ktoré budú efektívne,“ pousmial sa 37-ročný tréner.

Meno semifinálového súpera prijal Kochan pozitívne. Séria medzi HC a Duklou totiž ponúka viaceré benefity. „Bude to východniarske derby a tým pádom veľmi atraktívna séria pre divákov. Pre hráčov je výhodné krátke cestovanie. Som presvedčený, že diváci uvidia výborné zápasy a my samozrejme dúfame, že dopadnú v náš prospech.“

Predpoklady o vysokej atraktivite potvrdzuje i predpredaj a vyzerá to tak, že Steel aréna bude prvýkrát v sezóne vypredaná.

„Veľký záujem je pre sériu skvelou správou. Zažiť semifinálovú atmosféru  na štadióne je niečo úplne iné, než to sledovať v televízii. Košice a Michalovce sú blízko a počítať sa teda dá aj s početnými výjazdmi fanúšikov,“ teší sa na výbornú atmosféru asistent trénera „oceliarov“.

Tomorrow starts the semi-final series against Michalovce and our guys are doing everything they can to be hundred percent prepared for the Friday start.

Main coach Dan Ceman watched Dukla live during their sixth quarter-final duel against Slovan and, together with his assistants, is analysing available information from every perspective. They are scrutinising opponent’s strengths and weaknesses which should result in a successful strategy.

“It is a cliché but offense wins games and defense wins titles,” says the coach’s assistant Tomáš Kochan who thinks it logical for this series to be defensively tuned. Mainly because this season Košice played six games against Michalovce and four of the game results differed only by one goal. “Michalovce will surely have a good defense, we have a great offense rooted in a thorough defense and responsible goalies. So far, both teams have been represented by great collective play and both them and us have strong team bonds. It will be all about the details, every scored goal and every successful goalie's intervention.”

Per tradition, an important element of playoff games are power plays. Košice's team is statistically best at scoring and defending during power plays, although, Michalovce aren’t that far off. Actually, they haven’t conceded any goal in the numerical disadvantage during the quarter-finals against Slovan.

“Penalties and power plays are very important and, understandably, we put a lot of emphasis on them. You don’t disclose tactics ahead of time but we’re making sure to study them thoroughly.  I believe we’ll come up with effective stuff,” smiled the 37-year-old coach.

Kochan has accepted the name of the semi-final opponent in positive spirits. HC versus Dukla series offers some benefits. “It will be an Eastern derby which makes it very attractive for the viewers. The quick travel works well for players. I’m convinced the viewers will watch amazing games and we, of course, hope for them to result to our benefit.”

Prognosis about the great attraction is confirmed by pre-sale and it looks like the Steel Arena will be sold out for the first time this season.

“Big interest is great news for the series. It is something completely different to experience the semi-final atmosphere live rather than to watch it on TV. Košice and Michalovce are near cities and we expect a great number of away fans to attend,” says the Steelers’ coach’s assistant who looks forward to the fantastic atmosphere.
